NTSB Issues Initial Report In G650 Accident

Few Details in Accident That Fatally Injured Four Gulfstream Employees

The NTSB investigator in charge of the probe into Saturday's accident involving one of the G650 test aircraft gave an initial report Monday at the Roswell Airport where the accident occurred.

Tom Latson said that the investigators have found a wingtip scrape about 5,000 feet from the end of the runway. The plane came to rest about 3,000 feet from that spot.

Television station WSAV reports that Latson said witnesses indicated that the aircraft was engulfed in flames as it skidded across the ground. It finally came to rest about 200 feet from the base of the Roswell Airport control tower. Firefighters reportedly worked over 15 minutes to bring the fire under control.

Latson said this would be the final official release of information until the preliminary report is made public, which must be within 10 business days of the accident.
