Preachers Ground Flight With A Prayer

Reportedly Said 9/11 Was A Good Reason To Pray

Two Pentecostal preachers headed for a convention in Baltimore forced a Continental Airlines flight to be grounded in Buffalo (NY) last week.

The reason? Airline officials said they were talking to fellow passengers about the 9/11 terror attacks on New York and Washington, saying they were a good reason to pray.

"They were sincere in their beliefs and were not malicious," said FBI spokesman Paul Moskal in a telephone interview with Reuters. "In the context of 9/11 it may not have been the best way to promote their religion."

Indeed. The pilot, alerted by passengers, turned the aircraft around and headed back to the gate. Pentecostal ministers Yohan Heenatigala and Komal Singh, both of Canada, were questioned by the FBI and later released and put on another flight.
