Another 9/11 In The Making?

Turkey Warns Of Hijack-Suicide Attacks

Turkey could be the next target for a series of 9/11 style terrorist attacks, according to published reports from Ankara. Government officials concede they've met to beef up airport security in the face of this new threat.

The Turkish daily newspaper Milliyet quotes intelligence sources who say members of Osama bin Laden's al Qaeda organization are planning to hijack airliners and use them as guided weapons of mass destruction.

The newspaper also reports government officials in Ankara have raised the level of security at the nation's airports from level "yellow" to level "red."

Turkish security forces have been watchful for more attacks after a series of suicide bombings last November. Two synagogues, the British consulate and a British-owned bank were targeted by suspected members of al Qaeda. Sixty-three people were killed in the blasts.
