Evolito To Provide Electric Motors For Flying Whales’ Cargo  Airship

Evolito, British developer of electric motors, announced a collaboration with Flying Whales, a French company developing large capacity airships. Evolito will provide its state-of-the-art D250 electric propulsion motor for the LCA60T airship, due to make its first test flight in 2027.

The partnership signifies an innovative approach to sustainable cargo aviation as well as reducing carbon footprints.

The LCA60T airship is 200 meters long and designed to transport exceptionally heavy loads of up to 60 tons. Flying Whales’ airships provide a unique solution for transporting heavy and oversized cargo, especially in areas with limited infrastructure. Evolito’s advanced motors will help Flying Whales establish a more efficient and environmentally sustainable mode of transport and promote green logistics worldwide.

Flying Whales chose the Evolito D250 motor due to its exceptional power and torque density. Each airship will be powered by 32 D250 motors. Another factor in the decision to utilize the D250 motors is Evolito’s ability to scaled up production to deliver the motors in the quantities necessary to meet Flying Whales’ production forecast.

Evolito’s motors are the smallest and lightest in their class, providing a power density of 18.5 kW/kg with 240 kW peak power yet weighing just 13 kg.
