PHI Aviation Takes Delivery of First Airbus H160

First of Four for PHI and First in U.S.

The first of four Airbus H160 model helicopters has been delivered to PHI Aviation in Lafayette, Louisiana.

This is the initial bracket of the aircraft for PHI with more to follow, and also represents the first H160 to enter service in the U.S.  Airbus Helicopters and PHI entered a partnership in 2021 to launch the H160 in the U.S. and the helicopter received FAA certification in June 2023. PHI will operate them for offshore transportation in the Gulf of Mexico.

The H160 medium-class helicopter features improved comfort, advanced technology and safety, and environmental performance in the offshore environment that can be very challenging. PHI will immediately begin a route-proving program to demonstrate the H160’s capabilities.

Scott McCarty, CEO of PHI Group said, “This is an exciting milestone for our teams and partners. The H160 represents a new era for PHI, enhancing our commitment to safety, quality and efficiency for our operations in the Gulf of Mexico. We are proud to officially welcome this next-generation aircraft into our fleet as we kick off route-proving.”

CEO of Airbus Helicopters Bruno Even said, “With its state-of-the-art technology, the H160 has set a new standard in the helicopter industry and we are pleased U.S. customers will now benefit from the aircraft’s superior performance.”

The H160 has been popular in North America with recent deliveries in Canada, and it has been in service in France and other European countries, Saudi Arabia, Japan, and Brazil.
