Sherpa Air Expands With Crucial Aero Acquisition

Part 145 Bolsters Growth Into MRO Market

Aviation services provider Sherpa Air announced the acquisition of Crucial Aero, a subsidiary of Crucial MRO, to continue Sherpa’s advancement into the aircraft maintenance, repair, and overhaul market. Crucial MRO will continue operating independently while Crucial Aero’s FAA Part 145 certification has been transferred to Sherpa Air’s base of operations in Georgetown, South Carolina.

Sherpa Air is now able to perform a full range of comprehensive aircraft maintenance services, and has a newly-built 30,000 sf hangar to accommodate those activities.

MRO services now available from Sherpa Air include:

  • Airframe and powerplant inspections and repairs
  • Avionics upgrades and installations
  • Component mods and overhauls
  • Preventative maintenance and regulatory compliance checks

Paul Handakas, President of Sherpa Air said, “Our Sherpas are fiercely dedicated to building customer trust by continually demonstrating our commitment to integrity, selfless service, and superior quality. This acquisition reinforces that commitment.

“Our transition of the FAA Part 145 Repair Station to our base of operations, alongside our FAA Part 135 Air Carrier, allows Sherpa Air to offer a comprehensive and efficient aviation solution for aircraft owners who value the benefits of operating and maintaining their aircraft under one roof. This investment also reaffirms Sherpa’s commitment to continue our business expansion in the Georgetown, SC community.”

Sherpa Air is a Service Disabled, Veteran-Owned Small Business that employs numerous veterans and provides a range of aviation services including charter, aircraft acquisition and management and all ancillary functions connected with those operations.

Through their military service, Sherpa also is thoroughly familiar with navigating complex mission sets and the challenges surrounding them. The company provides airlift and ISR – intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance – to government clients.
