A Bodacious Aircraft

And A Business Opportunity For The Right Person

In the ultra-light area we’ve always been impressed with the Legal Eagle, a small inexpensive, single-seat, single engine aircraft the owner routinely flies several hundred miles to AirVenture each year. However, in the shadow of that aircraft we discovered what appeared to be an enclosed Legal Eagle. Upon closer examination, it turns out to be a one-off aircraft that started out as a Legal Eagle and morphed into something entirely different.

The aircraft owned by John Steere, is actually a fully enclosed single-engine, single-seat aircraft with folding wings. It takes less than 2-minutes to fold each wing. Each wing has an aluminum spar and the aircraft provides good performance. It cruises for 2.5 hours at 60mph, stalls at 27mph, and has a useful load of 289 lbs. It has a range of approximately 150 miles. Mr. Steere says its’ a very enjoyable (read that as low and slow) cross country aircraft.

One could easily see the attraction for a small inexpensive aircraft like this. Mt. Steere is not interested in selling plans or offering kits. He does say that he would be willing to sell the plans or the rights to the aircraft for anyone that wants to enter that business. If you’re interested, see him in the Ultralight area. Look for the little yellow aircraft named “Bodacious.”
