Second 747-400 Boeing Converted Freighter Redelivered To JAL

Airline Has Eight On Order, With Four Options

Aero-News has learned that last weekend, Boeing and JAL International celebrated the completion and certification of the second 747-400 Boeing Converted Freighter at a redelivery ceremony held in Xiamen, People's Republic of China.

As Aero-News reported earlier this year, JAL International has orders for eight of the passenger to freighter conversions and four options. The first 747-400 Boeing Converted Freighter was redelivered to Cathay Pacific in December 2005.

"We are proud that JAL International -- the world's largest 747 operator -- chose the 747-400 Boeing Converted Freighter to upgrade its cargo fleet," said Bruce Dennis, vice president of Boeing Customer Support, Asia-Pacific, at the redelivery ceremony.

The 747-400 Boeing Converted Freighter is designed, engineered, managed and certified by Boeing. The program relies heavily on Boeing's global network of supplier partners, such as Taikoo (Xiamen) Aircraft Engineering Co., Ltd. (TAECO), which performs the hands-on modification work of the former passenger-carrying aircraft.
