Baseball Team Rushed Off Plane

Luggage Loader Fire To Blame

And now to sports... where the Seattle Mariners were hot Sunday night.

No, we're not talking about their game with Toronto... in fact, they lost that one, 4-3... but rather after the game, as they were on their plane getting ready to travel to New York for the next series.

Instead of relaxing onboard the team plane after Sunday's hard-fought loss, the Mariners had to show some unexpected hustle... after the team was hurried off the plane due to a fire on the baggage loader.

"I was sitting there watching the women's golf playoff," manager Mike Hargrove told the Associated Press, "and our traveling secretary came walking through the plane saying we have to get off the plane now, so we got off the plane. As I understand it, the belt loader caught on fire. I don't think the plane was ever in danger."

The team waited for about a half hour until they were allowed to reboard and continue on their way.

Alas, the experience didn't appear to add any spring extra spring in the team's steps Monday night... as they dropped the series opener against the Yankees, 4-2.
