Korean Air Orders 33 Airbus A350 Aircraft

Big Airbus A350 Order Enhances Korean Air Fleet

Korean Air has finalized a landmark deal with Airbus for the purchase of 33 A350 aircraft. This strategic acquisition includes 27 of the larger A350-1000 models along with six A350-900s, marking a new chapter for the Seoul-based carrier in enhancing its global operations.

With the A350 renowned for its exceptional range, fuel efficiency, and passenger comfort, Korean Air's decision to incorporate these state-of-the-art aircraft into its fleet represents a forward-thinking approach to addressing the demands of contemporary air travel. The A350's capability to operate any of Korean Air's current intercontinental routes with a significant 25% reduction in fuel consumption and carbon emissions compared to previous generation aircraft sets a new standard in the industry for operational efficiency and environmental responsibility.

The introduction of the A350 is poised to not only enhance Korean Air's operational capabilities but also to redefine the in-flight experience for passengers. The aircraft's additional range opens the possibility for the airline to explore new long-haul destinations, further expanding its extensive global network.

Jason Yoo, Chief Safety and Operating Officer and EVP at Korean Air, expressed confidence in the A350's ability to drive operational efficiencies and elevate the overall travel experience. "The A350's exceptional range, fuel efficiency, and passenger comfort make it a great fit for our global network," Yoo stated, emphasizing the airline's commitment to maintaining its reputation for world-class service.

Airbus EVP of Sales, Benoit de Saint Exupéry, hailed the order as a testament to the A350's leadership in long-range air travel. "This order from Korean Air is another major endorsement for the A350 as the world's long range leader," de Saint Exupéry remarked, noting the anticipated advancements in efficiency and service quality that the aircraft will bring to Korean Air's operations.

The A350 Family combines advanced materials such as composites, titanium, and modern aluminium alloys to achieve lighter weight and cost-efficiency. Equipped with the latest generation Rolls-Royce engines, these aircraft are capable of flying up to 9,700 nm / 18,000 km non-stop, setting a benchmark for long-haul travel.

As Korean Air prepares to welcome the A350 into its iconic livery, this acquisition reflects the airline's ongoing commitment to innovation, sustainability, and providing an unparalleled travel experience for its passengers. With 1,240 orders from 59 customers worldwide as of the end of February, the A350 Family continues to lead the way in long-range aviation, promising a brighter, more efficient future for the global airline industry.
