Upgraded S-TEC Autopilot Receives STC for Metroliner

Digital Features Improve Operational Capabilities for Specific Models

Genesys Aerosystems announced that its next-generation S-TEC 3100 Digital Flight Control System autopilot completed testing requirements to receive FAA Supplemental Type Certification (STC). The upgraded attitude-based autopilot is now approved for installation on the Fairchild Swearingen Metroliner aircraft. Models approved under the STC include the SA226-TC, SA227-AT, SA227-AC, SA227-BC, SA227-CC, and SA227-DC.

The 3-axis autopilot features automatic trim, envelope protection and alerting, one-button straight and level recovery, and presets for indicated airspeed and altitude holds. It also comes with traditional vertical and horizontal navigation modes and supports many 3rd-party EFIS displays. If no EFIS is installed on the aircraft the unit will integrate its own internal ADHRS.

The Metroliner is a pressurized twin-turboprop, 19-seat passenger aircraft serving regional routes around the world. The S-TEC 3100 provides next generation digital performance enhancements that will improve the operational capabilities of the aircraft.

Genesys Aerosystems, Mineral Wells, Texas, is a subsidiary of Moog, a global company that designs, manufactures, and integrates high-performance precision fluid and motion controls and control systems. Its corporate offices and aircraft group headquarters are located in Elmira, New York.

Jamie Luster, Director of Sales and Marketing for Genesys said, “We are excited to add the Metroliner to our vast STC portfolio and provide safety enhancing technology to the fleet.”
