L-3’s Voice And Data Recorders Selected For Embraer E-Jets E2

Chosen As 'Standard Forward-Fit Solution' For The New Airliners

Embraer has selected the FA5003 Cockpit Voice and Data Recorder (CVDR) system manufacture by L-3 Aviation Products (L-3 AP) as its standard forward-fit solution for the E-Jets E2 commercial aircraft program. The FA5003 is a dual-combination digital voice and data recorder with an integrated Recorder Independent Power Supply (RIPS). With this selection of its latest generation of digital voice and data recorder systems, L-3 is now the leading supplier of flight recorder solutions on all current Embraer programs, including Phenom 100/300, Legacy 450/500, Legacy 600/650 and KC-390.

“L-3 is very pleased that Embraer has selected our FA5003 CVDRs for the second generation of their E-Jets family, the E2,” said Ralph DeMarco, vice president of marketing and sales for L-3 Aviation Products. “Embraer is a long-standing L-3 customer and we are committed to supporting their production needs for many years to come.”

L-3’s Model FA5003 CVDR is fully compliant and certified to all civil and regulatory standards. It is being offered as a direct replacement for the current Model FA2100 flight recorder because of its additional capabilities, such as Controller-Pilot Data Link Communications (CPDLC) recording, a web-based Ground Support Equipment (GSE) user interface, RIPS, ARINC 429 status output and more. The onboard web-based utility, which is accessible through an Ethernet/Cat5 cable, allows real-time raw data monitoring via common web browsers.
