The General Aviation Manufacturers Association published the first quarter 2016 aircraft shipment results, and the report shows lower deliveries than hoped for.

The general aviation industry shipped 614 aircraft in the first three months of the year for a total value of $4.5 billion. Shipments of general aviation aircraft were soft across the board with only a handful of bright spots. Piston airplane and rotorcraft shipments were stable in the first quarter when compared to last year, while Business jet deliveries declined by 4.7 percent. SpaceX has recovered another Falcon 9 booster in a landing attempt that company founder and CEO Elon Musk gave about a 50-50 chance of succeeding. The reason for the, “maybe it will…maybe it won’t’ attitude is because of the difficulty involved in this attempt. It’s been proven hard enough to send a rocket into low earth-orbit and recover the booster to a successful landing, but this spaceflight launched a Japanese JCSAT-14 satellite into a geostationary orbit. Asiana Airlines has agreed to pay the City of San Francisco $3.45 million to cover legal costs and airport repairs associated with an
accident involving an Asiana Airlines Boeing 777 in 2013. There were three fatal injuries associated with the accident, which has been blamed on pilot mismanagement of the airplane. All this -- and MORE in today's episode of Airborne!!!
