Murphy Aircraft Rises To The Challenge

Murphy Aircraft Focuses On Moose After Pandemic Shutdown

By Suzanne Collins

Anton Fix and Tim Gai of Murphy Aircraft were on hand at discuss their lineup of certified aircraft at AirVenture 2022.

Murphy Aircraft, in business since 1985 closed its doors during the pandemic, and in late 2021 found new life following a purchase, change of hands, and subsequently rebuilding/rehiring the workforce. Having worked through the challenges, Murphy Aircraft believes its ready to resume supplying kits.

Murphy Aircraft, headquartered in Chiliwack, British Columbia, Canada offers factory tours to its owners, and the chance to meet the dedicated staff who are responsible for building/assembling your airplane’s kit components. With over 2000 kits sold, Murphy Aircraft hope to build on that success, pun intended, by engaging in factory-assist builds in the future but is presently focused on selling kits at this time.

The Renegade, Maverick, Rebel, and Moose aircraft round out the fleet, with Rebel being a popular choice, and the latter their largest aircraft, which is favored by backcountry/hunter types and pairs nicely with the Montana 4000 Floats, though Murphy Aircraft also makes their own floats. We’re told it’s a straightforward process to attach floats to the Moose. Your choice of powerplant can be a Lycoming O540 for 250hp or a M-14P with 360hp. The Moose has a gross weight of 3,500lbs and with takeoff run/landing roll of 800/600 and 600/600 respectively.

In short, Murphy Aircraft has something for the weekend warrior, or the hard-core back country aficionado, simply choose the aircraft that suits your budget and mission.
