St. Petersburg-Clearwater International To Install AirportMonitor

Online Flight Tracking Only A Mouse-Click Away

Megadata Corporation has inked a contract with St. Petersburg-Clearwater International Airport (PIE) for PASSUR AirportMonitor™, which claims to be the only Internet flight tracking and information system with near-real time data, instant replay, and the new fast forward and pause capabilities.

"Credit for bringing this new service and technology to our communities must go to the Noise Abatement Task Force Committee," said Thomas Jewsbury, acting director of PIE. "The task force has shown that airports and the public can work together to provide superior public access to information and education about the airspace."

"We're pleased we can play a role in creating a stronger bond between PIE and their community," said Jim Barry, Megadata President and CEO. "If our experience at other airports is a guide, AirportMonitor PIE will create a greater level of clarity and understanding about the local airspace."

St. Petersburg-Clearwater will launch the latest release of AirportMonitor software, AirportMonitor 2.0, which includes new capabilities: fast forward; pause-and-resume; and additional coding for nearby airports, allowing the public to access valuable information about what is taking place in their local airspace.

St. Petersburg-Clearwater becomes the eleventh airport nationwide to launch AirportMonitor, joining Los Angeles International, Boston Logan International, Mineta San Jose International, New Orleans Louis Armstrong International, Louisville International, Boca Raton, Burbank-Glendale-Pasadena, Westchester County, Nantucket Memorial and John Wayne Airport.

AirportMonitor is a turnkey web application service that is integrated simply and easily onto an airport's web site. It is an interactive display of air traffic and flight information in and around the terminal airspace, based on the unique PASSUR radar, database and software system. It enables residents to view traffic in "near-live" (10-minute delay) and replay mode at their convenience.
