Aero-TV: Virgil Irwin Discusses Bearhawk Aircraft At SUN ‘n FUN

Details Of Models, Capabilities, Build Options, What’s Coming

Virgil Irwin, Owner of Bearhawk Aircraft was showing off their Bearhawk Five while talking with Aero-News Network’s Chief Editor Jim Campbell. Virgil says they still have five models, and the biggest is the Bearhawk Five. The whole line is designed to fly fast but still be able to perform in the STOL arena and off-airport flying as well.

The biggest thing they’ve been working on are the new build manuals: the new wing manuals are coming out and the fuselage manuals are following as well as covering manuals and so on.

Bearhawk kits have been evolved- all the hardware packages have been redone, just trying to make them a little easier for people to put together at home.

The big thing coming out this year is that more and more of our drop-in packages will be released. We have prewired and all-ready-to-go avionics packages and electrical packages, firewall forward, interiors, anything that you need to put in the airplane we have a premade install kit for it.

Last year Bearhawk sold 42 aircraft, 27 of those were Bearhawk Fives, that’s the majority of our market right now. The Bearhawk Five is kind of in its own little world out there in the experimental. Coming down to SnF they saw 170 mph groundspeed, just a little short of 150 true with 30 on the tail. They were fully loaded and didn’t even bring a trailer, they just flew the booth down in the airplane.

Bearhawk is now offering factory build-assist in Oklahoma, with two other third-party facilities in Tennesee and Florida.

Bearhawk is on social media at Facebook, Instagram, etc., where you can access a configurator to figure out exactly what you want – model, engine, avionics, etc. – and how much it will cost.
