AirVenture 2008 To Rock To Sounds From Foreigner

Opening Day Concert Will Follow Air Show

The Experimental Aircraft Association tells ANN AeroShell Square will once again be rockin' on EAA AirVenture's opening day, when the legendary band Foreigner takes the stage following the afternoon air show, courtesy of Ford Motor Company.

The performance, free of charge to all AirVenture guests that day, will begin at 1730 CDT adjacent to the Ford Hangar on AeroShell Square.

Like AirVenture, Foreigner is known the world over and has attracted multiple generations of fans. Led by the band's co-founder, guitarist Mick Jones, Foreigner has sold more than 70 million albums and played at venues around the world.

Foreigner is known for its mix of blues, rock and pop. Among its best-known hits are rock classics such as their breakthrough hit, "Feels Like the First Time," "Cold As Ice," "Hot Blooded," and "Urgent." The band also scored two international No. 1 hits, "I Want to Know What Love Is," and "Waiting For A Girl Like You."

"We know that the opening-day concert has become a favorite at AirVenture in just the two previous years that they have been held," said Tom Poberezny, EAA president and AirVenture chairman. "Ford has again made it possible for this popular tradition to continue by supporting the appearance of top-name musical entertainment at Oshkosh."

Kevin Keling, Ford's corporate events manager, said "Ford is proud to be a part EAA AirVenture, The World’s Greatest Aviation Celebration. We've developed a great relationship over the past decade and are very happy to help support EAA, EAA members, and this great event through a variety of ways, including bringing top entertainment such as Foreigner to aviation's annual family reunion."
