Harrison Ford Under Investigation For Landing On A Taxiway

Incident Occurred At John Wayne Airport In Southern CA

Actor Harrison Ford is back in the aviation news for allegedly landing his Aviat Husky on a taxiway at John Wayne International Airport in southern CA Monday.

FAA policy does not allow the agency to name pilots who are involved in incidents such as this. FAA spokesman Ian Gregor released a statement saying that the information in the investigation is only preliminary. "Air traffic controllers cleared the pilot of a single-engine Aviat Husky to land on Runway 20L at John Wayne Airport Monday afternoon," Gregor said in an email to USA Today. "The pilot correctly read back the clearance. The pilot then landed on a taxiway that runs parallel to the runway, overflying a Boeing 737 that was holding short of the runway. The FAA is investigating this incident."

Ford was reportedly heard on the ATC frequency asking "was that airliner meant to be underneath me?"

The airliner departed without incident. ATC then informed the pilot of the Husky that he had landed on a taxiway, rather than a runway, according to NBC news.
