Joby Flies All-Electric Aircraft At Cali Int’l Air Show

Three Demo Flights Add To Growing Total During Public Tour

Joby Aviation, developer of air taxi aircraft for commercial passenger service, announced that it flew its all-electric aircraft at the California International Air Show in a series of flights between the company’s home field of Marina Municipal (KOAR) and the air show at Salinas Municipal Airport (KSNS), both in California.

From Friday to Sunday, October 3-5, Joby performed three airshow demonstrations that included the round-trip flights between Marina and Salinas. Flights lifted off vertically from Marina and transitioned to horizontal cruise flight to Salinas where it hovered and then performed steep climbs, precise hovers, and other maneuvers before returning to Marina.

The flights displayed the reliability of the aircraft as well as its operational maturity as it nears flight testing directly related to FAA type inspection authorization. Attendees also experienced the quietness of the aircraft, a significant capability for urban operations where noise is a major concern.

JoeBen Bevirt, Founder and CEO of Joby Aviation said, “We’ve had the privilege of flying in places like Japan and Dubai this year, but seeing our aircraft fly at home on the Central Coast and sharing it with our neighbors was truly special. I’m deeply grateful to our team and to everyone who came out to see us. Experiencing the aircraft up close shows just how quiet it is, and that gives a real sense of the future of flight we’re building.”

Joby has been on a global tour with its aircraft, accumulating more than 40,000 flight miles in urban air mobility demo flights that showcased its VTOL capabilities. Demo flights have been conducted in Dubai, Japan, New York City, and now Salinas. The company will return to Dubai for its air show from November 17-21, 2025 as it works to garner public acceptance and support for commencing commercial operations.
