Aero-News Featured Aero-Casts For Tuesday 05.12.09

American Mayors Implore President To Respect GA

Last week, four local mayors of US cities which depend, for a variety of reasons, on business aviation, held a news teleconference promoted by the Alliance for Aviation Across America, to publicize and expand upon a letter, signed by 70 mayors and county executives, urging the Obama administration to stop its economically destructive grandstanding against business aviation.

Today, in the first of two parts, we'll hear the opening statements of the four mayors involved in last Wednesday's conference: Carl Brewer, of Wichita, Kansas; Steve Van Oort, of Ankeny, Iowa;  Rick Fernau of Show Low, Arizona; and Fred Bott of Devils Lake, North Dakota.

This feature is in addition to our daily news briefing -- available in either a quick "Touch And Go" format, or an expanded Aero-Briefing -- where you'll hear these stories:

The Flight 3407 cockpit transcript gets released today.

An R44 pilot and three passengers walk away from a powerline encounter.

And SAFE gets a famous new member.

...And more
