Rear Admiral Wendi Carpenter To Speak At Women's Air And Space Museum

Free Lecture As Part Of Navy Week In Cleveland

The International Women's Air & Space Museum (IWASM) will be hosting a free lecture by Rear Admiral Wendi B. Carpenter on Thursday, September 2, 2010 at 1900. Rear Admiral Carpenter is a naval aviator and Commander of the Navy Warfare Development Command in Norfolk, Virginia. She will be in Cleveland as part of Navy Week. The lecture and parking are free however reservations are required for parking lot access.

Rear Admiral Carpenter is the daughter of an Air Force veteran of WWII, Korea and Vietnam. She was raised throughout the United States and holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Georgia.

Carpenter received her commission through Aviation Officer Candidate School, Naval Air Station (NAS) Pensacola, Florida and was designated a naval aviator in July 1979. She has served as an instructor pilot, mission commander and aircraft commander and deployed throughout the Pacific and the western U.S. and Alaska. Carpenter left active duty and accepted a reserve commission in February 1985. She has been highly active in the operational reserve force and as accepted numerous recalls to active duty. Carpenter has held four Navy reserve commands at the commander and captain level.
