Skyryse One Inbound for Oshkosh

Simplified, Technology Focused Helicopter Aims to Make a Splash At Country's Biggest Fly-In

Skyryse, designer and developer of the One, has announced their first public exhibition of the pared-down, simplified-control helicopter.

Skyryse proudly touts the fact that their new design only requires a "single control stick and two touch screens" in a strong turn away from the norm of complex, advanced rotorcraft. They hope that the 'revolutionary controls' will help make the One a more accessible buy among first-time helicopter buyers, and the reception they get at AirVenture will be a good way to gauge their chances of success.

The company will show up with an example of their aircraft at booth number 420, showing off the 2-man cockpit, single stick, and techy - but spartan - panel. The One hews closer to the luxury car market than it does the light helo one, going for a "groundbreaking, simple, ergonomic, and upscale interior" in place of some rougher, more honest craftsman styles often seen in experimental or GA aircraft.

The One is supposed to kick off a "new era of simpler, safer aviation" by doing away with some of the inherent complexity of most helicopters, leaning on streamlining, automation, and fly-by-wire to boil the flight controls down to their most essential elements.

While at AirVenture, Skyryse will run simulators in their booth to offer visitors a chance to "experience what it's like to fly the groundbreaking SkyOS universal flight operating system". The experience will require pre-registration, since sim time is always a hot commodity at fly-ins, but for those who may just find themselves with a preorder for a Skyryse One someday, it's a vital chance to gauge the comfort and utility of the real thing as they shop.
