Textron Gets Contract With JASDF For Beech T-6 Texan IIs

First Contract For Integrated Training System For Japan

Textron Aviation Defense announced the company has finalized a contract to deliver the Beechcraft T-6JP Texan II integrated training system to the Japan Air Self-Defense Force, in coordination with the Kanematsu Corporation. This first contract also includes instructor pilot and aircraft maintenance technician training materials.

Deliveries of the first two aircraft will begin in 2029 and additional contracts are anticipated.

Travis Tyler, President and CEO of Textron Aviation Defense said, “This contract marks a pivotal step in strengthening Japan’s next-generation pilot training capabilities. We’re honored to support the Japan Air Self-Defense Force with a proven, interoperable training system that’s trusted by air forces around the world and tailored to meet Japan’s mission requirements for decades to come.”

There are currently more than 1,000 T-6 Texan II aircraft in service with over 5 million cumulative flight hours logged, making it the world’s most widely adopted integrated training system. With Japan now added to the roster, the system supports pilot training in 15 nations, pilots from 40 countries at two NATO flight schools, and multiple U.S. military branches.

As the world’s premier military flight trainer, the T-6 Texan II has a low cost of acquisition as well as low operating and sustainment costs that enable air forces around the globe to fast-track pilot production.

The family of Beechcraft Texan II aircraft has been the world’s number one integrated training system for over 20 years with an installed base more than four times that of its closest competitor.
