Port Authority Police Needed To Control JFK Crowd

Disturbances Follow Winter Weather Flight Cancellations

Delta Airlines Gate Personnel at JFK International Airport had to call in the New York Port Authority police to help control an unruly crowd Tuesday, as passengers still stranded by the weekend blizzard tried to get where they were going.

Television station WNYW reports that it took police less than an hour to restore order at the Delta counter.

Some passengers stranded in New York by the weekend snowstorm missed cruises and other vacations because they were unable to get out of the city. Some had to reschedule flights days later than originally planned. Many of those affected were connecting through JFK.

A Delta employee told the station that the situation, which apparently began when a flight to Haiti was overbooked, had been resolved and that the carrier was working to get passengers where they were going.
