Commemorative Air Force Launches Informative New Web Resource

Site Will Serve As A WWII Educational Tool

The Commemorative Air Force (CAF) recently launched the Henry B. Tippie National Aviation Education Center’s (NAEC) new webpage. It features blog-style posts aimed to engage and inform enthusiasts of all things WWII.

The Henry B. Tippie National Aviation Education Center is a 47,000-square-foot facility based at Dallas Executive Airport. It features a STEM Innovation Hangar, workshops, displays, and galleries for the CAF’s war artifacts. The education center honors World War II veteran and respected CAF member Henry Tippie.

The new webpage is meant to serve as a “treasure trove for history enthusiasts, educators, and anyone with a passion for learning,” the CAF says. It is titled “Plane Ole Knowledge.”

The articles are written by Nathan Huegen, the CAF Vice President of Education. The posts share in-depth stories of crucial World War II figures. Many of these individuals are also featured in the American Airpower Heritage Museum’s (AAHM) Oral History Collection.

“These articles… shine a light on the diverse experiences of those who contributed to the war effort, offering readers a glimpse into the lives and sacrifices of people from all walks of life.”

Some released stories include The Oral History of Glider Pilot George F. Brennan, Beryl Owens Paschich: A WASP Pioneer, and Ice Cream on the Frontlines: Sweet Treats of World War II.

On top of the articles, the webpage showcases infographics geared towards younger audiences and classroom applications. The site will be updated monthly and can be found through the NAEC website.
