Classic Aero-TV: Powerful Alternatives – UL Power’s Sport Aviation Powerplants

From 2014 (YouTube Version): New Powerplant Offerings Promise More Than Variety... They Raise The Bar in SportAv Propulsion

While at the U.S. Sport Aviation Expo 2014, ANN CEO and Editor-In-Chief, Jim Campbell talks with Robert Helms, the General Manager of UL Power North America.

Jim had just returned from flying the Zenith 750 Cruiser which is powered by a UL 350iS engine, and he asks Helms for more background information about the UL Power products.

Helms explains that UL Power is located in Belgium and got its start in aircraft engine production in 2006. They now have eight engines available for the U.S. market ranging from 97 to 200 hp.

Their line of engines are designed from the ground up as airplane engines, and in many respects are typical of a Continental or Lycoming engine. The big difference is they have the advantage of modern technology ideally suited for the experimental aircraft builder. All of their engines are direct drive to the propeller, air-cooled, fuel injected, and have full FADEC control. Better yet, all of these features come with a substantial weight savings.

Check out this video for more information about the eight UL Power engine choices and their customer support for firewall forward installation assistance.
