Commemorative Air Force Releases East Coast May/June Tour Dates

Visits Planned To Eight Cities As The Air Show Season Gets Rolling

The CAF B-29 and B-24 Squadron has announced dates for stops along the east coast in May and June 2012. The Consolidated B-24 Liberator “Diamond Lil” and the world’s only flying Boeing B-29 Superfortress “Fifi” will be touring the east coast of the U.S. and Canada, and will be joined by the Cavanaugh Flight Museum’s North American P-51 Mustang “The Brat III.”

The bombers will be available for guided tours (for a donation) and will also be offering rides aboard both aircraft. Dates can be booked in advance by visiting the website. The CAF’s Living History Flight Experiences range in price from $395 to $1495 depending on aircraft and seat location.  Early bookings are encouraged, as the seats fill up quickly. Seat availability can be checked by visiting the squadron website.

Commemorative Air Force President/CEO Stephan Brown said the tour shows how the CAF is unique and unlike other museums. “We start our engines, we fly our airplanes and we get loud, taking history to the public, not waiting for them to come to us. “FIFI” and Diamond Lil attending these events is an opportunity for the CAF to continue doing what we do best, educating and reminding Americans of the cost of our freedom.”

Tour highlights include the appearance of Fifi and Diamond Lil at the Mid-Atlantic Air Museum’s WW2 Days Airshow (Reading, PA) and the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum’s Hamilton Airshow (Hamilton, ON).

May 2012

  • 18-20 Lexington, KY (B-29 only)
  • 18-20 Andrews AFB (B-24 only)
  • 22-23 Baltimore, MD
  • 14-27 Morristown, NJ

June 2012

  • 8-10 Windsor, Locks, CT (New England Air Museum)
