Pipistrel Helps Secure 100,000 Masks From China

Finding Transportation Had Been A Bigger Challenge Than Securing The Equipment

The European-based Slovenian/Italian aircraft manufacturer, Pipistrel has helped secure a donation of 100,000 medical face masks from China through its Pipistrel Asia-Pacific subsidiary and the city of Jurong where it is located.

A total of 30,000 medical masks and 300 thermometers, donated by Jurong, were symbolically handed over in Ljubljana on Tuesday by China's Ambassador Wang Shunqing to Ajdovscina Mayor Tadej Beocanin.

Also already in Slovenia, are 60,000 masks donated by Pipistrel and its Chinese subsidiary, while10,000 more are expected in coming days, along with 1,100 testing kits.

Pipistrel Director and Founder Ivo Boscarol told the press that finding transportation had been a bigger challenge than securing the equipment. He thanked the Slovenian government for its assistance.

Igor Benko of the Ajdovscina Civil Protection unit said the equipment was being distributed to the most exposed groups, while some had also been shared with the local municipality.

Pipistrel continues to operate normally during the epidemic, including at its facility in Italy's Gorizia, since Italy made aviation sectors exempt, from the coronavirus lockdown.
