New Galileo HDX Antenna to Provide Faster Speeds for In-Air Users

Gogo Business Aviation announced its work with Atlas Air Service AG to develop the first European Supplemental Type Certificate for their Gogo Galileo HDX system for the Cessna Citation series and Embraer Phenom 300.

The STCs, once finished, will cover more than 2,600 aircraft in the global fleet, given an operational population of 1,850 Citations and 750 Phenom 300s. That's a pretty fat market for Gogo to chase, particularly when so many of them are sufficiently moneyed to equip high-speed internet gear on their pricey bizjets. The HDX will offer Gogo subscribers the fastest satellite broadband they can get in the company portfolio, with 100% global coverage, low-latency, and full streaming capability from the second the aircraft powers on all the way to shutdown. While it may seem a little extravagant to those in the LSA and GA game, puttering around low enough to keep that one last bar of signal on their EFB, connectivity is a make-or-break for those who can foot the bill for bizjet flights without wincing. Being able to keep up with happenings, hold remote meetings, and stay productive throughout a flight at altitude is a big draw for fractionals, charters, and the like.

As such, Gogo’s STC is good news for their team as they aim to keep building momentum against a bevy of competitors in the inflight internet scene.
