Gulfstream G280 Makes Singapore Airshow Debut With Three New City-Pair Records

Super Mid-Size Aircraft Connects Savannah-Anchorage-Tokyo-Singapore In Record Time

Gulfstream Aerospace Corp.’s G280 once again demonstrated its ability when it set three potential city-pair records en route to its 2014 Singapore Airshow debut.  The super mid-size aircraft linked Savannah to Singapore in just three legs, bringing its record tally to 39.

The G280 flew 3,206 nautical miles from the Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport to the Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport at an average speed of Mach 0.80 for a total flight time of 7 hours and 41 minutes.

From Anchorage, the aircraft flew to Tokyo’s Narita International Airport – a distance of 3,040 nautical miles in 6 hours and 50 minutes. Its average speed for the journey was Mach 0.80.

The aircraft then connected Tokyo to Singapore, landing at Singapore’s Changi International Airport 8 hours and 9 minutes after taking off from Narita. The aircraft’s average speed for the 3,032-nautical-mile flight was Mach 0.80.

“This is quite the Singapore debut for the G280,” said Scott Neal, senior vice president, Worldwide Sales and Marketing, Gulfstream. “These records show how quickly the G280 can connect North America to Asia, even westbound against strong winter headwinds. The leg between Tokyo and Singapore, two major financial districts, is especially important to our operators who want the ability to travel quickly, easily and reliably between those destinations. With its almost 40 city-pair records, the G280 has repeatedly demonstrated that it’s a super mid-size powerhouse, capable of swiftly connecting far-reaching countries and continents.”

Pending approval by the U.S. National Aeronautic Association, these records will be sent to the Federation Aeronautique Internationale in Switzerland for recognition as world records.

The G280 entered service on Nov. 14, 2012. Since then, Gulfstream has delivered nearly 25 G280 aircraft to customers. The G280 fleet has more than 8,200 flight hours and over 4,850 landings. The fleet leader has accumulated more than 950 flight hours and 565 landings.
