Avidyne About To Broaden Product Line... Aggressively

Hints Coming Our Way About "Light Jet FMS'

It's been an interesting couple of years for Avidyne... but 2008 looks to be a year of positive and aggressive developments and concrete news may be coming sooner than you think.

After developing the first electronic cockpit to see true GA industry acceptance, we hear solid rumors that the company is about to announce a WAAS-enabled GPS/NAV/COM-capable FMS for single-pilot jet operations.

Based on the reports we've examined so far, Avidyne may be planning to give the aviation world their first look at a new VHF NAV/COM and GPS-based Flight Management System (FMS) during the upcoming trade show season.

From the limited info available at this point, Avidyne's FMS system will feature a WAAS-capable GPS navigator that builds on the ease-of-use that Avidyne has brought to their Entegra line and will transfer that type of feature-set to turbine class single-pilot operations. This system is expected to include the industry's first all-digital, multi-channel VHF NEXCOM communication and navigation radio -- a system that has already built up significant "time-in-grade" while flying 'thousands of hours' in VLJs.

We'll keep you up to date as we get more info but the 'FMI' below is linked to an Avidyne site that has promised further developments to folks who sign up for upcoming product announcements.
