Test Pilots Tap Pete Reynolds

Symposium Open to Public, NOW, in LA

In Celebration of 100 Years of Powered Flight, this year’s Society of Experimental Test Pilots' Symposium should be the largest ever held, and will feature prominent figures from the fields of military, general, and space aviation.

In a Symposium highlight, Pete Reynolds will join other aviation luminaries in one of three oral history sessions. He was chosen for his role as project test pilot for the Learjet Model 28, the first jet to fly with winglets, which are now standard equipment on many jet aircraft.

Three Decades of Experience

Reynolds has more than three decades of jet flight test experience that started with Learjet in 1973. He has more than 11,000 flight hours and more than 8500 jet flight test hours.

He piloted seven first flights of new model jets, including two all-new aircraft. He has set many civil jet World Class Aircraft Records and a patent for boundary layer energizers, a transonic airflow control device.

Reynolds has flown flight demonstrations in the Paris and Farnborough Air Shows.

He’s a recipient of the Kansas Governor’s Aviation Honors Award in 1992, was elected a Fellow in the Society of Experimental Test Pilots in 1993 and in 1999 received the prestigious James H. Doolittle Award for Outstanding Accomplishments in Aerospace Engineering and Technical Management.

Reynolds recently retired from his leadership of the Bombardier Flight Test Center and formed PTR Aero, a flight test consulting company working with several airframe manufacturers and major aircraft modification firms.
