Small UAV Coalition Voices Support for the Unmanned Delivery Services Act

Legislation Would Further The Ongoing Dialogue Between Industry And Government

The Small UAV Coalition sent a letter, this week, to House Communications and Technology Subcommittee Ranking Member Latta (R-OH) voicing support for his Advancing Unmanned Delivery Services Act.

Since its inception, the Coalition has worked alongside Congress, the FAA, and other agencies to expedite the development and safe deployment of UAS across a range of industry segments, including delivery services.

This legislation would further the ongoing dialogue between industry and government that will help build on existing successes and identify challenges that will need to be overcome in order to ensure that consumers and the economy benefit from the immense potential of UAS delivery services. The Coalition encourages Congress to move the bipartisan legislation forward.

The letter notes that, " This legislation can help further the ongoing dialogue between industry and government that will help build on existing successes and identify challenges that will need to be overcome in order to ensure that consumers and the economy benefit from the immense potential of UAS delivery services."

"In particular, the Small UAV Coalition appreciates your leadership as it is now more apparent than ever that unmanned delivery services, whether via autonomous vehicles, drones, or robotics, are necessary to ensure sound health policy and continued access to food, medicines, and other critical supplies during times of crisis. Additionally, the Coalition supports the call for the Department of Commerce to survey other countries’ efforts and strategies for promoting unmanned delivery services. Understanding what is taking place internationally can help harmonize regulations to lower regulatory costs as companies look to build out services."
