UAL Flight Evacuated At O'Hare

Possible Engine Fire Sparks Emergency Action

A United Airlines flight from Chicago to Vancouver was evacuated at O'Hare International Monday night, after the plane taxiing behind it reported seeing a possible engine fire.

United Flight 1035, an Airbus A319 carried 84 passengers and a crew of five when it left the gate. One passenger and one flight attendant were hospitalized after sliding down the emergency chutes. They reported only minor injuries. A second passenger was reportedly treated at the scene.

"There may have been sparks coming out of the engine," United spokeswoman Jenna Obluck said in an interview with the Chicago Sun-Times.
