Can Now Take 19 Passengers With 2 Crew And Fly 450-500 Nautical Miles
The FAA has awarded an STC to Ikhana Aircraft Services (Ikhana) for their RWMI DHC-6-300HG Standard Commuter Category Increased MTOW to 14,000 pounds.

“The FAA’s certification of our RWMI DHC-6-300HG upgrade adds significant capabilities for operators to expand their mission role, optimize payload and range, add value to their aircraft, and increase revenues.” states Mr. John A. Zublin, President and CEO of Ikhana. He adds, “this takes the aircraft well beyond its original capability. The Standard Commuter Category STC addresses a typical Twin Otter operator’s need for as much payload as possible. A Twin Otter can now take 19 passengers with 2 crew and fly 450-500 Nautical miles. Big picture, it Edicoffers increased utility with a rapid return on investment. This has been a long term and intensive engineering effort for Ikhana and we are pleased that this long-awaited enhancement is now approved and available on the market.”
The RWMI DHC-6-300HG STC increases the payload capabilities of the basic DHC-6-300 Twin Otter Series aircraft from 12,500 lbs. MTOW to 14,000 lbs., providing an increase of 1500 lbs or 12% overall and represents a 31% increase in payload based on an average empty weight of 7700 lbs. Operations are allowed to the full 750 shaft horsepower of the PT6A-34 engines along with the improved efficiency and noise reduction of the Raisbeck/Hartzell four blade “Scimitar” propellers. Additional aerodynamic and structural enhancements complete the modifications. As a Standard Commuter Category STC, DHC-6-300 operators will be able to operate in revenue service without special purpose restrictions.
