SimCom Launches New PC-12, Citation Ultra Simulators

Equipped With Glass Panels, High-Viz Displays

SimCom Training Centers has added a second Pilatus PC-12 simulator to its Orlando, FL training center, bringing the total number of PC-12 sims in its fleet to three, all of which are built in accordance with FAA Level 5 standards. The company also recently introduced its fourth Citation simulator, for the Citation Ultra.

Developed by SimCom and Pilatus Business Aircraft, Ltd. and sporting a full glass cockpit, the latest PC-12 simulator was designed to replicate the PC-12 NG (Next Generation). It includes the state-of-the-art Honeywell Apex integrated avionics system and Flight Management System (FMS), thus enhancing the realism of simulated normal, abnormal and emergency procedures. Aerodynamic and engine flight test data, combined with control loading, provide realistic flight control behavior.

SimCom's 180-degree wrap-around visual motion cuing system incorporates new Level D equivalent day/night and all-weather visuals.

"Our PC-12 customers have provided us with some very specific and helpful feedback with regard to their training needs," said Tracy Brannon, Senior Vice President and Managing Director. "For example, many of our customers asked us to minimize the amount of time they spend away from their home and/or office for training. To accommodate that request, we have developed a pre-study course for the Initial Training program, whereby we will send courseware to customers that will familiarize them with the Apex system prior to getting into the simulator. In addition to decreasing the amount of time they spend (away) for training, the pre-study course will better prepare them for and will also enhance their simulator experience."

The Level C Citation Ultra simulator was manufactured by SimCom and is equipped with Honeywell's Primus 1000 EFIS system, the GNS-XLS FMS system, Primus II radios and Mark VIII EGPWS. The device features the Moog CFS E-Cue electric motion system with 36" stroke actuators. The simulator also includes an RSI 3-channel Raster Flite Image Generator with a Cross View Display and is capable of training for approaches in Aspen, Colorado.

The addition brings SimCom's total number of Citation sims to four, including a CitationJet and Citation II (all Level C) located in Orlando, FL and a Level B Citation II in Scottsdale, AZ.
