Hilton Software Introduces traca Technology

Company Calls It A 'New Era' In Flight Planning

A new, patent-pending technology has been released in WingX Pro7 Version 8.5.

Called "traca" it enables pilots to create or modify a route simply by drawing the route on the screen. Our traca patent also includes advanced modes of tracing such as snapping to navaids, airways, and other known points. This new capability is also applicable to other forms of navigation such as driving and boating. traca Technology is a product of WingX Labs and is released as part of our WingX Ingenuity Initiative.

Flight planning is generally a cumbersome process. The pilot enters an approximate route using known airports, navaids, and fixes and then tweaks the route with so-called rubberbanding. Usually this route is approximate at best, takes time to ‘get right’ and does not provide an accurate depiction of distance or terrain profile. We thought “Wouldn’t it make sense for the pilot to just draw the route right on the moving map allowing easy routing around mountains, weather, large bodies of water, or along rivers, road, or valleys?” The new patent-pending traca Technology is the result, the company said.

"traca Technology ushers in a new era of route planning whether it be flight navigation, car navigation, marine navigation, or any other vehicle or non-vehicle navigation - perfect for mobile-based VFR and Military flight operations," said Hilton software founder Dr. Hilton Goldstein. "We will continue Pushing the Electronic Flight Bag Envelope."

WingX Pro7 Version 8.5 with the new traca technology is available now in the Apple App Store.
