CASA Emergency AD: Eurocopter

AD Number: DCA/AS355/56
Subject:
RH Cabin Vibration Damper Assembly – Inspection and Replacement
Applicability: Model AS 355 E, F, F1, F2 and N aircraft fitted with a cabin vibration damper assembly installed on the starboard side of the aircraft and an automatic flight control system.
Effective Date: 17 June 2005
Requirement: To prevent the failure of the blade of the cabin vibration damper assembly, which could lead to the failed part interfering with the trim actuator rod, resulting in the jamming of the flight controls, accomplish the following:
1. Visually inspect the visible areas of the cabin vibration damper assembly blade for cracks, per paragraph 2.B.1. of EUROCOPTER AS 355 Alert Telex 05.00.46.
2. Replace cracked blades per paragraph 2.B.1. of Alert Telex 05.00.46.
(DGAC AD UF-2005-102 refers)
Compliance: 1. At every daily post flight inspection.
2. Before further flight.
Note: This AD is prompted by advice from the manufacturer and the French Airworthiness
Authorities after a vibration damper failed in flight. The investigation revealed the
failed components could cause interference with the flight controls. This AD should
be accomplished by adding the pilot’s inspection requirement to the aircraft tech log.
