Search Continues For Missing Sheikh

Rescuers Facing "Challenging" Conditions

Search and rescue teams from the UAE are facing what they describe as "challenging" conditions in their search for a sheikh who has been missing since his glider went down in a lake Friday.

Sheikh Ahmed bin Zayed Al Nahayan is the younger brother of the ruler of Abu Dhabi who is also the UAE president. He was a passenger in a glider which went down in a reservoir about six miles south of the Moroccan capital Rabat. The WAM news agency said the terrain around the reservoir was making the SAR effort "especially challenging."

Sheikh Ahmed was recently ranked number 27 on the Forbes list of the worlds most powerful people. He reportedly holds assets between $500 and $700 billion, including stakes in Citigroup and Britian's Gatwick airport.

The pilot of the glider was rescued after it crashed near Sidi Mohamed Ben Abdallah Dam. The reservoir in which the glider crashed is estimated to be about 180 feet deep due to recent high rainfall in the area.
