DiversiFlite Scholars Announced by Vertical Flight Society

Scholarships aim to Connect Students with All-Expenses-Paid Trip

The Vertical Flight Society has announced its trio of 2023 DiversiFlite Scholars, providing the winners with a paid trip to the VFS Annual Forum in May.

The Vertical Flight Society’s forum is a sterling opportunity for young rotorcraft enthusiasts and engineers, with keynote speakers and networking opportunities galore. This year, the program selected three promising engineering students, interested in vertical flight and studying towards a technical career at “US recognized Minority-Serving Institutions”. The winners will be brought along to the 79th Annual Forum & Technology Display from May 16-18 at West Palm Beach, Florida. The Society will provide each DiversiFlite Scholar with guides to help make the most of this unique opportunity; special small-group meetings with aerospace industry leaders to enable them to kick start their careers with some invaluable face time with industry veterans.

The Society said its DiversiFlite Scholars program aims to bring “more engineering [and] pre-engineering students from underserved demographics to consider careers in vertical flight to meet the future needs of the industry.” Interestingly, the VFS has estimated that the future vertical workforce has an intense need for additional technical personnel in the near future, requiring at least 10,000 engineers - in addition to those needed to maintain the current talent pipeline- to meet the needs of a burgeoning AAM and VTOL industry.
