Show Support for Crested Butte Airport Saturday

Don't Let Local Meanies Wreck This Scenic, Useful Strip!

We've been helping when we could, and hoping for a couple years, that Crested Butte (CO) Airport won't be wrecked by the concentrated efforts of some local cronies. It's been touch-and-go there for a long time, and you could turn the tide!

This is a chance for you to go to show your support, and maybe write a letter to the editor later, or call some county commissioners. Besides, if you can think of a better place to enjoy a hundred-dollar hamburger, you have quite an imagination! Here's the airport's invitation:

Dear Friends of the Crested Butte Airport,

Learn more about the Crested Butte Avion Airport -- and what it brings to the local economy -- by attending the fly-in & open house Saturday morning, August 23, 2003. The airport has been open to the public since 1975 (both winters and summers).

Your participation will help make a difference in preserving the airport and avoid the proposed shortening (destruction) of part of the existing runway, which would in effect close the airport.

Check our web site for more of the the morning program including the participation of nationally acclaimed Mountain Flying author, Sparky Imeson.

Thank you for your continuing support. Looking forward to seeing you there.

Happy and Safe Flying! --Carlo Cesa (970-349-0495 airport)
