China Says Boeing Will Double Its Workforce There

Tianjin Composites Could Add 600 Workers Over 3-4 Years

The Boeing parts facility in China could see a doubling of its workforce to 1,200 employees over the next three to four years, according to reports coming from state-run media.

Boeing China president David Wang reportedly told The China Daily newspaper "(w)e have to enlarge the place because the needs of commercial airlines is growing fast."

The international news service AFP reports the expansion announcement is on the heels of a slew of new orders announced by Boeing and Airbus at the Farnborough Air Show in July. The Tianjin factory supplies structures and interior parts for Boeing's complete line of commercial airliners.

In China alone, air traffic is expected to rise 13 percent in 2010, with cargo traffic just behind at a 12 percent increase over 2009. Smaller increases, but increases none the less, are being seen in most markets, which some analysts see as a sign the commercial airplane market is in recovery.
