Details Such As Time, Extent Of The Restriction Not Yet Released
We're not sure which candidate it is that will be campaigning in Orlando next Monday, but the FAA has already given notice that there will be a VIP TFR in place in the Orlando area at the same time many attendees will be arriving for the NBAA convention.

The notice indicates that there will be a VIP visit to the Orlando area on Monday, October 29, 2012 that will require the issuance of a temporary flight restriction (TFR). The airspace restriction will impact general aviation operations within and around the Orlando area to include operators attending the annual NBAA conference. The FAA said this early notification is intended to allow operators to plan accordingly in order to help mitigate the potential impact.
The FAA classifies the airspace defined in associated NOTAM(s) as "National Defense Airspace". Any person who knowingly or willfully violates the rules concerning operations in this airspace may be subject to certain criminal penalties. Pilots who do not adhere to the implemented airspace restriction may be intercepted, detained and interviewed by law enforcement or the United States secret service. Pilots who do not comply with the requirements, special instructions or procedures in the published NOTAM will be subject to the following:
- The FAA may take administrative action, including imposing civil penalties and the suspension or revocation of airmen certificates.
- The united states government may pursue criminal charges.
- The united states government may use deadly force against the airborne aircraft, if it is determined that the aircraft poses an imminent security threat.
All aircraft operators should frequently check NOTAMS before and during this event for possible changes to ensure they have the latest procedures.
The NBAA said it believes its duration is anticipated to be relatively brief. The association is working with the FAA and government security officials to establish this and other information, and also to mitigate, to the greatest extent possible, the impact on business aviation operations on that day. The association says it will continue to advise membership on the impacts of TFRs and options available for members during any TFR.
Maybe President Obama will be attending to apologize to the industry. The Orlando Sentinel, which in 2008 endorsed President Obama, recently gave its backing to Governor Romney for 2012. Details will be posted as we receive them.
