Archer And Abu Dhabi To Launch Electric Air Taxi Ops

Archer Will Be Primary eVTOL Manufacturer For Planned Service

Archer Aviation announced it has entered into a multi-party agreement that involves cross-industry entities in the UAE and Abu Dhabi to further the establishment of electric air taxi operations in Abo Dhabi. The agreement formalizes the collaboration among the stakeholders in preparation for the launch of the commercial eVTOL service.

The deal was signed under the authority of the Smart and Autonomous Systems Council, with the provision that Archer will be the first manufacturer of eVTOL aircraft in the Middle East North Africa (MENA) region and the first to initiate air taxi service in the Emirate.

A key signatory was the Abu Dhabi Investment Office, which will facilitate coordination among Abu Dhabi entities in preparation for the launch of commercial operations. Other entities forming the ecosystem for eVTOL development are Abu Dhabi Airports, Falcon Aviation Services, Etihad Aviation Training, the General Civil Aviation Authority, Global Air Navigation Services, Global Aerospace Logistics, and the Abu Dhabi Integrated Transport Center.

The partnership represents a strong alignment between the leading industry entities following a previous agreement with the Abu Dhabi investment Office to accelerate the development of air taxi commercialization.

His Excellency Badr Al-Olama, Director General of the Abu Dhabi Investment Office said, "We are pleased to see leading members of Abu Dhabi’s aviation sector collaborating with Archer to support the launch of air taxis in the emirate. This partnership marks a major milestone in the efforts led by Abu Dhabi’s Smart and Autonomous Systems Council to accelerate smart and advanced mobility solutions, further solidifying the emirate’s position as a global leader in smart and autonomous vehicles.”
