Diamond Hands Over New DA42 To Saudi Buyer

Manufacturer Sees Continued Expansion Of Gulf Region Sales

Diamond Aircraft announced the handover of another new aircraft to an Arabian Gulf customer as it delivered a DA42-VI to Abdullah Al Muhaydib of Saudi Arabia, who took his new airplane up on an acceptance flight accompanied by one of Diamond’s flight operations team.

Mr. Al Muhaydib’s aircraft boasts a Diamond Premium design with a paint scheme of San Marino Blue over Anthracite exterior and a Black & Pearl Gray interior. He said, “I chose the DA42 because it is a safe plane with two engines, advanced avionics and a beautiful weather radar that gives you full awareness of the weather conditions while flying. Thanks Diamond. It was a very nice first flight!”

The DA42-VI is Diamond’s version of its four-seat, twin-engine aircraft. It is ergonomically designed and has climate-controlled seating with an adjustable backrest and variable lordosis support. A variety of hand-made upholstery options are available along with additional interiors options.

The aircraft is powered by two Austro Engine AE300 2.0 liter diesel engines with 168 hp and a single power control lever. The engines can run on Jet A-1, Jet A, TS-1 (Russia, Ukraine), No. 3 Jet Fuel (China), and JP-8.

The MT propeller is an MTV-6-R-C-F/CF 190-69 3-blade hydraulic constant speed propellers with advanced blade geometry for efficient performance. They are also automatically controlled by each engine’s digital control to enable feathering with just a single switch.

Avionics include a fully integrated Garmin G1000 NXi complemented by a wide variety of options such as integrated weather and synthetic vision.

The aircraft’s max speed at 16,000 ft at max takeoff weight of 1,760 kg / 3,880 lb is 365 km/h / 197 kts TAS. Max cruise speed at 16,000 ft is 352 km/h / 190 kts TAS.

Its rate of climb at MTOW is 5.7 m/s / 1,114 ft/min. Max range at FL180 and 50% throttle with no reserves is 2,269 km / 1,225 nm, while its range at 60% power at 12,000 ft is 2,038 km / 1,100 nm. Fuel consumption at 60% power is a combined 39.4 l/hr / 10.4 gal/hr.
