Fly Sax Aircraft Missing In Kenya

Cessna Caravan Had 10 People On Board

A Cessna Caravan operated by Fly Sax with eight passengers and a crew of two on board has gone missing on a flight from Kitale to Nairobi in Kenya, Africa.

According to Fly Sax, the plane disappeared from radar at about 1720 local time Tuesday. Jomo Kenyatta International airport control tower reported that it has lost contact with the aircraft operated by East African Safari Air Express, registration number 5Y CAC.

The aircraft departed from Kitale destined for Nairobi at 1605 local time.

Search and rescue team were mobilized by the Kenya Civil Aviation Authority, Aircraft Accident Investigation Department and KWS. The search was suspended at dark on Tuesday, and was expected to resume Wednesday, weather permitting.

At present East African Safari Air Express has no knowledge of the location or condition of the aircraft or its occupants.

The Kenya Civil Aviation Authority said in a Tweet that the flight was last seen on radar about 40 nautical miles flying at an altitude of 11,000 feet ASL.

The Daily Nation newspaper reports that phone signals from people on the aircraft were received in the Aberdares mountain range in Nyandarua County. Kenya wildlife officials said they would be concentrating their search in that area.
