Five Families Reach Settlements In Flight 3407 Accident

Continental Connection Flight Went Down Near Buffalo, NY In 2009

The families of five of the people on board Continental Connection Flight 3407 when it went down in February of last year have reached settlements with the airline. Terms of the agreements were kept confidential.

The flight went down February 12 of last year, fatally injuring all 49 people on board the aircraft and one on the ground. Attorneys say 39 lawsuits were filed in connection with the accident.

The Associated Press reports that the attorneys indicate that more settlements are likely before the cases are expected to go to trial in March of 2012. The airlines named, Continental Connection, Pinnacle Airlines and its Colgan Air subsidiary, are fighting a move to have the CVR recordings released. A ruling from a federal judge could come on that issue in November.
