Lee County (FL) Sheriff Takes Delivery Of AS350 AStar

Follows Completion Of 12-Year Inspection By Airbus Helicopters

The Lee County, Florida Sheriff's department is once again flying its AS350 BA AStar helicopter after completion of the aircraft’s second 12-year inspection.

The 12-year Inspection completed by Airbus Helicopters effectively resets the helicopter’s inspection cycles to zero, updates the aircraft with all applicable factory configuration changes and confirms its compliance with applicable Federal Aviation Administration requirements.

“We chose Airbus Helicopters Inc. to perform our 12-year Inspection because we have a long relationship with them. They deliver a high-quality product,” said Mike “Pop” Warner, Commander of the Lee County Sheriff’s Office Aviation Division. “The staff at Airbus Helicopters Inc. kept us well-informed during the inspection process, and the ship flew extremely well during our acceptance flight. The paint job was top-notch. We plan to bring our AS350 B2 to Grand Prairie for its 12-year Inspection in 2016.”

The 12-Year inspection performed by Airbus Helicopters Inc. at its headquarters complex in Grand Prairie offers operators several important advantages, including having the work performed by factory trained technicians. The company offers on-site repair of composite structures, rotor blades, dynamic components, and other key components using the latest tools and test equipment.

Engine work and parts required during the inspection are available from Turbomeca USA, which is located adjacent to Airbus Helicopters Inc. in Grand Prairie. Aircraft inspected and repaired by Airbus Helicopters Inc. are returned to service in turn-key condition. Customers can expect to spend no more than one day reviewing aircraft records and conducting an acceptance flight before returning to their home base.

Scheduling an AS350 AStar 12-Year Inspection with Airbus Helicopters Inc. enables an operator’s maintenance staff to focus on the daily tasks of keeping in-service aircraft flight ready. Operators can count on a thorough inspection and repairs, with quick turnaround times due to pre-planned parts supply coordination, and advance scheduling of facility resources and personnel. Customers can also obtain avionics and equipment upgrades during the 12-year inspection.

As part of the 12-year Inspection, Airbus Helicopters Inc. can refinish the aircraft with a state-of-the-art custom paint job. The result is an aircraft returned to service efficiently and ready for many years of continued safe, effective and cost-efficient operations.
