Doctor Dave's Sport Pilot Encyclopedia

Doctor Dave's Sport Pilot Encyclopedia

There are FAA test-study books, and then there's the "Doctor Dave" series from FAAeztest. Doctor Dave, whoever he might be, is about to issue a new edition of the "Sport Pilot Encyclopedia," which includes test questions and answers, regulations, practical test standards, and more, and is written, well... differently.

Here's an example:

"When you greet your examiner for the oralportion (usually first) of the flight test, let the first words out of your mouth be 'My name is _______, I am very pleased to meet you, and I will never disobey a briefer who tells me VFR not recommended.' You will have just eliminated the source of most of the light aircraft fatalities of the past hundred years and caused the examiner to fall in love with you."

Even Doctor Dave's promotional material is funny. A table comparing this to Gleim and ASA prep books points out that the Big Two don't have, "Leisure reading potential, including humor." (Gleim: Rare; ASA: God forbid!; Doctor Dave: maximum).

The material is cheaply bound and, in fact, disposable. But it's only $9.95. Despite that, the maker calls it, the "LEAST expensive but MOST complete and current of any Sport Pilot test prep publication on the market today."

It includes all the latest Sport Pilot questions, plus relevant questions from other FAA databases, including the Sport Pilot CFI and DE knowledge tests, relevant FARs and sections of the AIM. It also includes a number of examples from NTSB accident reports, to illustrate "the necessity for regulations and the consequences of substandard training."

The launch outlet for Doctor Dave's Sport Pilot Encyclopedia is The Pilot Shop of Baldwin, NY, online at www.pilotshopusa.com. It is not yet advertising availability of the new Doctor Dave book.
