Sierra Nevada Corporation Opens Huntsville, Alabama Office

Expands Key Customer Support, Including NASA

Huntsville, Alabama is now home to one of America's fastest growing private companies, and the top Woman-Owned Federal Contractor in the United States. Sierra Nevada Corporation (SNC), headquartered in Sparks, Nev., announced today at a reception for Huntsville business and community leaders at the U.S. Space & Rocket Center, that the company has opened an office at 1525 Perimeter Parkway, in Huntsville.

Three of SNC’s key business areas will be located in the new office, including: Communications, Navigation, Surveillance/Air Traffic Management (CNS/ATM), Integrated Mission Systems (IMS) and Space Systems (SS). Huntsville is an epi-center for key SNC customers including NASA, the U.S. Army Aviation and Missile Command (AMCOM), the Missile Defense Agency and the Space and Missile Defense Command, and other related corporate partners.  The office will allow SNC to better serve customers, access Huntsville’s skilled workforce and be in proximity to partner companies.  The SNC office will initially employ seven to 10 employees.

SNC will utilize a number of local Alabama vendors to support its growing business including the United Launch Alliance in Decatur and the NASA Marshall Spaceflight Center.

Among the products CNS/ATM produces are SNC’s Air Traffic Control Mobile Tower Systems, the Helicopter Autonomous Landing System that enables helicopters to land in brownout conditions, and Telemedicine for medical evacuations.  “"This is more a celebration than an ‘opening,’ as we have long-standing relationships in Huntsville, and this new office will enable us to grow side-by-side with our customers and business partners here.  We will enjoy having Huntsville as a home, instead of a destination,” said Greg Cox, Corporate Vice President of SNC’s CNS/ATM.

IMS provides intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance systems  to the AMCOM community and PEO Aviation, resulting in better equipped soldiers, sailors, airmen and Marines.  "We are honored to continue to be part of such an amazing community that continually sets the bar for technological development. SNC is a highly agile technology company that will weave perfectly into the existing fabric of our community.  We look forward to greatly enhancing our presence here and adding new technology and integration capabilities to an already dynamic community," said Tim Owings, Corporate Vice President of SNC's IMS.
